INVITATION: “ALIVE IN GRAVES” DOCUMENTARY FIRST SCREENING IN TURKEY “HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS INSIDE THE SYRIAN PRISONS” PANEL

The living hell described by survivors from the Assad regime prisons in Syria gives a glimpse of the real character of the Assad’s rule. Despite the regime’s systematic use of arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance against hundreds of thousands of its own people, the regime consistently denied responsibility while continuing its crimes with impunity. Not only are detainees held in inhuman conditions, tortured, starved, disappeared and murdered, but they are also victims of summary executions, secret trials and a complete lack of due process, under gloomy political prospects.

What is the actual magnitude of the issue of detainees in Assad prisons?

What measures can be taken to stop these ongoing atrocities?

Can lasting peace and justice prevail without accountability?

iHAK, the Human Rights and Justice Movement, in cooperation with Save the Rest, a campaign working to shed light on the crisis of Syrian detainees in Assad prisons, are pleased to present the first screening of Alive in Graves, a documentary produced by Save the Rest. The 17-minute film, featuring accounts of the experiences of survivors from Assad prisons, will be followed by a discussion about the Human Rights Violations inside the Syrian Prisons moderated by Attorney and Vice President of iHAK Mrs. Gülden Sönmez.
